htc mytouch 3g About a month or so ago, I was struggling with options to help simplify my life. I woke up knowing that the universe would bring me exactly what I needed for this to happen. Later that day, I found myself frustrated with my cell phone, which had died, unexpectedly, again.

This led me to my local T-Mobile store. With some canoodling from the staff, I was convinced that I should trade my old boring cell phone for an exciting new super-smart phone. Specifically, I was told that the T-Mobile My Touch 3g (with Google!) would be the perfect option for me… when it came out several weeks later.

Of course, given the performance of my phone at that time, I decided it was best for me to jump in with both feet. So, I made the arrangements to take advantage of the upgrade offered, which was far less than the advertised special and which I would receive a week before they were made available to the general public. Both of which were firsts for me with a cell phone company, which are notoriously bad when it comes to the customer service end of things.

Well, true to their word, my new phone arrived. I was completely impressed with the packaging and the completeness of the accessories included with the phone. More importantly than that, I was aghast when, upon turning on the phone, I was asked to enter my google account login information and the phone completely set itself up.

I’ve never owned a phone that was simpler to set up. And that has held true as long as I’ve been using it: I’m amazed at how much simpler my life has become. I no longer need to use my laptop throughout the day, and I no longer face a inbox filled with messages that I need to filter. I am able to manage my calendar with very little effort, and everything synced properly the first time and continues to remain synced properly, allowing me to move effortlessly from my phone to my computer and back again without skipping a beat.

Normally, I would suggest that less technology is better, but in the instance of this phone, I cannot stress how one simple device has created a spiritual renaissance in my life.

EDITOR’S NOTE: I really do own the My Touch 3G, and I do recommend it. I don’t own the other phones mentioned, but from what I’ve read and seen from my friends, they work very very similarly. We’ve even had head-to-head competitions with friends who own iPhones, and they like our android phones more! Feel free to chat with me or send me a note if you have questions about my experience with this product. I’m hoping that the Android 2.0 update is pushed to my phone soon… when that happens I’ll update you on my review. For now, my phone is running Android 1.6.
