What Channel Are You Watching?
Do What’s In Front Of You
One of the messages that keeps coming up for me these past few weeks is: “Do What’s In Front Of You.” So, I thought I’d share it with you.
What does that mean? Let’s say you’re feeling like things are working the way you want them to. You’re not getting the results you want from life. You’re feverishly trying to do everything you read in every self-help and personal development site, book, and article out there.
And nothing is working.
Perhaps you are missing the point.
It’s not enough to do the exercises. You have to live your life. And love your life.
That requires clear and consistent action on your part. To do whatever is right in front of you. Even if you don’t think it applies to your goals or to where you think you should be in this world. It is, and let me stress this point, right where you are that is your starting point.
So, you want to do something else with your life. Unfortunately, you find yourself in the life you have right now. Here’s an example of what I mean.
You want the house of your dreams. You can see it clearly in your mind. And, yet, you do not have that house right now. But, you know it is coming. And you are a little sad that it is not here right now. But, you’re not going to let anything get in the way of your dream house. Even the house you live in right now.
But how do you make that dream house get here a little quicker? By taking care of what you have right in front of you.
How can the universe give you more responsibility (your dream house) if you refuse to love the house you have now with every fiber of your being? After all, the house you have now is exactly what you’ve been given. So, your job becomes: do whatever is right in front of you. Your current house is right in front of you. It is the most amazing place ever? Do you keep it clean? Have you decorated it nicely? Is it neat and tidy? Or, is there a list one mile long of everything that needs to be done around the house? As long as there is a list of things that needs to be done, then why would the universe give you another house when you still haven’t finished everything you need to do with the one you have now?
This goes for every area in your life. Want better friends? Well, how do you treat the ones you have now? Looking for a better job? Well, how are you doing with the one you have now? Looking for a more loving relationship? Well, how are you doing with the relationship that matters most (the on with yourself)?
Until you’re willing to do the work that is right in front of you, the universe can’t be expected to give you more.
