I am at the mercy of the radio gods at my satellite radio company. They select my music. But I also believe there’s just a tinge of divine intervention. Every now and then, I find myself “spiritually attracted” to a few different songs that seem to speak to me. They often come in small groups and seem to play just for me when I’m being attentive to the Spirit or when the Spirit is making itself known to me in some small everyday way. Or, maybe they’re just good songs. Who’s to really know?

Whatever the reason, here are the latest additions to my current Spiritual Song List.  I’d love to hear what’s on your list right now.

First up: “The Man Who Can’t Be Moved” by The Script

Second up: “Not Meant To Be” by Theory of A Deadman, from the album Scars and Souvenirs

Finally, “Funny The Way It Is” by Dave Matthews Band from the album Big Whiskey and the GrooGrux King

Each of these songs speak to me in a universal spiritual way right now. The point is not a literal “the song is about this and I am going through the same thing right now” sort of thing. For example, “Not Meant To Be” is literally a break-up song. I currently don’t have any relationships even close to being there. But on a metaphysical level, the song is about those challenges that we face–those people and situations and even our internal voices–that are asking us to be something we’re not, yet we try to force ourselves into being or doing whatever will satisfy the current situation.

So, have at it. Watch the videos. Let me know what you think. And be sure to leave a note about what’s on your song list right now.
